2020 Book Lovers Gift Guide

2020 Gift Guide

Here is my 2020 Book Lovers Gift Guide! This is my very first gift guide and it was so much fun to put together. This is a list of 10 things that would make great gifts for the book lover in your life. I love getting books as gifts so obviously a book is a great gift for a book lover but these are things that would complement a book or in case the book lover in your life already has plenty of books these are alternatives. Most of these things I have or are on my wish list (wink wink family and friends!). I’ve included items from small shops or independent books stores as well as a few items from Amazon. If you can afford it please support small shops this holiday season!

1 – Book Subscriptions

I love book subscriptions! Theres something about getting a book that someone else picked out for you in the mail that brings me so much joy. I personally love the subscriptions from independent bookstores and I have a few suggestions.

The Book Drop is a book subscription ran by Bethany Beach Books. Each month you receive a hand-wrapped paperback book. The team at Bethany Beach books finds incredible reads that the average reader won’t discover otherwise. They select the titles each month for you so you have nothing to worry about except enjoying your book! Each month the book is a surprise! Simply decide which subscription is right for you, choose your subscription length, and enjoy some fabulous books! I have been receiving this subscription for over a year and I love it so much. Check it out here and use code GISSELLEREADS to receive 25% off the first month when you purchase any 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month subscription.

Another great subscription is The Shelf Subscription by The Bookshelf an independent bookstore in Thomasville, GA. Their book-a-month club features newly released titles chosen by their shop staffers. Annie, Olivia, and Lucy select their favorite new books each month, and you can have one shipped to you. The books are typically new releases and it comes with a hardcover copy. They have an option that comes with some goodies as well. I haven’t subscribed to this one myself but I love everything that The Bookshelf does. Check it out here.

2 – Book Weight

Do you like to read while you eat or know someone who does? If so this product is for you! I got this book weight last year and it was a game changer. I use it to read while I eat breakfast and now even when im sitting on the couch reading.

3 – Audiobook Subscription

I love libro.fm! In my opinion this is the only acceptable audiobook subscription. You get one credit a month with the subscription and part of the profits of your purchase go to Independent bookstores. It also feels like you are purchasing an audiobook from a bookseller because they have tons of great audiobook lists and recommendations. Check it out here and use code GISSELLEREADS for a free audiobook when you subscribe (2 for 1).

4 – Reading Light

This is my new favorite reading accessory! I had been struggling with the amount of light we have in our living room at night and wanted to get another lamp but then I found this reading light and it changed my life. You wear it around your neck instead of putting something over your book. It is comfortable and bright.

5 – Bookish Candle

I love a good candle and to me candles are the perfect reading companion. I love this book lover candle from Fly paper products. This is a small store in Michigan, support small businesses! ‘Book Lover’ is a masculine scent blended with lavender, jasmine and cotton. It is like the clean crisp pages of a new book that is fresh, new and ready to open and devour.

6 – Bath Caddy

For the bath lover in your life! I have this tray and I love to use it to read while I take a bath. It holds your book, a glass of wine, a candle, your phone, and more. If you or someone you know likes to take baths this is a must have.

7 – Book Darts

These are amazing for marking pages and quotes on books without actually damaging the books. I always have some of these on hand when I’m reading. The great thing is that they are reusable too if you don’t want to mark the pages forever. You can get them here from Amazon or check your local independent bookstores because they probably have them.

8 – Personalized Book Stamp

This is for the book collector. You know I love to collect books and I love stamping them with my own personalized stamp. There are tons of options on Etsy. This is the one I have and I love it. There’s nothing better than a personalized gift.

9 – Book Quote Shirts

I love a good bookish shirt or sweatshirt. I love Bookshelf tees shirts and sweatshirts. They are super cute and comfortable. I follow the owner on Instagram and she is amazing as well. You can get the bookish shirts or sweatshirts here. My personal favorites are the “Girls just wanna have books” tee and the “Books are my love language” sweatshirt.

10 – Bookish Coffee Mug

There tends to be a correlation between book lovers and coffee/tea so a coffee mug is a great gift. I have this bookish mug from Fly Paper Products and I love it so much, it is so cute. I also have a slight obsession with coffee mugs so I think it makes for a great gift.

I hope you enjoy this 2020 Book Lovers Gift Guide and that you have fun holiday shoping this season.
