New Books 1/5/21

New Books Tuesday for today 1/5/2021. New year, new kind of posts for the blog! This year I want to start sharing more stuff here on the blog besides book reviews. One of the posts you can look forward to are lists of new books that come out each Tuesday.

If you are new to the book world, Tuesdays are when new books are released by the main publishers. You can expect to see books that I’m excited about. These are books I haven’t read but that I’m excited to read and want to put them on your radar. Below you can also find the links to purchase the physical books from bookshop.org and Amazon or the audiobooks from Libro.fm.

Out in Hardback Today

The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr.

Genre – Historical Fiction

Synopsis – A singular and stunning debut novel about the forbidden union between two enslaved young men on a Deep South plantation, the refuge they find in each other, and a betrayal that threatens their existence.

Why I’m excited about it – I always love finding new authors and this is a debut novel. I have seen some great early reviews and the synopsis sounds great!

Black Buck by Mateo Askaripour

Genre – Contemporary Fiction

Synopsis – A crackling, satirical debut novel about a young man given a shot at stardom as the lone Black salesman at a mysterious, cult-like, and wildly successful startup where nothing is as it seems.

Why I’m excited about it – I think this is a book that will take me out of my comfort zone genre wise. I don’t think I’ve read many satirical novels. This book is also Jenna Bush Hager’s Book Club pick for January.

The Push by Ashley Audrain

Genre – Thriller/Mystery

Synopsis – A tense, page-turning psychological drama about the making and breaking of a family–and a woman whose experience of motherhood is nothing at all what she hoped for–and everything she feared.

Why I’m excited about it – I think the premise sounds interesting and this is GMA Book Club pick for January (I trust their picks).

Synopsis – With delicious suspense, incisive wit, and a fresh, feminist sensibility, The Wife Upstairs flips the script on a timeless tale of forbidden romance, ill-advised attraction, and a wife who just won’t stay buried. In this vivid reimagining of one of literature’s most twisted love triangles.

Why I’m excited about it – This was an early release by Book of the month last month and I’ve seen some great reviews.

Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time. But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…

Why I’m excited about it – This is one of my favorite romances! I read it when it first was published in Hardcover and I loved it so much. I’m so happy to finally have a copy.
