Today I’m sharing my review of Majesty by Katharine McGee. This is the sequel to American Royals and you must read that book before reading this one. I really love this series!
Synopsis
*** Do not read the synopsis below if you haven’t read American Royals and are planning to read this series, it will spoil the first book for you***
Is America ready for its first queen? Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we’re looking at you Daphne Deighton.
As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her “party princess” persona…and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace–and Prince Jefferson–at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne’s carefully laid “marry Prince Jefferson” plans. A new reign has begun….
Why I decided to read this book
I read American Royals last year and loved it! I couldn’t wait to read this one to see how the story continued.
Rating
4 Stars (An Excellent book!)
Characters
I had so much fun putting together the character template for this one. Not every single character that is mentioned is included in here just the relevant ones.
My Thoughts
This was a great sequel! I always get nervous about sequels for books I love because they tend to not be as good but this one I think its even better than the first book. You can check out my review of American Royals here. This book picks up right where American Royals ended. It is hard to review a sequel without giving out any spoilers about the first book but I’ll do my best.
I really like all the characters in this fictional world (except for Daphne but if you read it you know why). This series is a nice escape and I love Katharine McGee’s writing. I loved seeing the growth of the characters in this book, specially Beatrice and Sam. I mentioned this in my American Royals review but this book gives me Gossip Girl vibes without being too childish.
The first book ends in a cliffhanger (makes a lot of people mad) but I’m glad to report that this one does not. Overall this is a great series and I don’t want it to end. I think I heard there’s not a third book but I think there should be!
Content Warnings
Death, infidelity
