Review: The Wedding Party

Today I’m sharing my review of The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory. This book was a treat! This book is part of my Summer Reading Guide.

Synopsis

Maddie and Theo have two things in common:

1. Alexa is their best friend

2. They hate each other

After an “Oops, we made a mistake” kiss, neither one can stop thinking about the other. With Alexa’s wedding rapidly approaching, Maddie and Theo both share bridal party responsibilities that require more interaction with each other than they’re comfortable with. Underneath the sharp barbs they toss at each other is a simmering attraction that won’t fade. It builds until they find themselves sneaking off together to release some tension when Alexa isn’t looking.

But as with any engagement with a nemesis, there are unspoken rules that must be abided by. First and foremost, don’t fall in love.

Why did I choose to read this book

I read Jasmine Guillory’s book The Wedding Date last year (while I was my fiance’s wedding date) and really liked it. This year as we are planning our wedding I gave my bridesmaids a box with some gifts and one of them was this book. The title is too perfect! I was in the mood for something light and fun so I picked it up.

Rating

4 Stars (An Excellent book!)

My Thoughts

This book is technically the third in a series but you can read all of the books as stand alone. You don’t have to read The Wedding Date or The Proposal before reading this one. However, there are characters from the previous books in this book so if you want a little more context of these “side characters” you may want to read the others. I was glad I read The Wedding Date before I read The Wedding Party.

I fell in love with the main characters Maddie and Theo! The banter is great and I loved seeing their relationship develop. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes and I really enjoyed were Jasmine Guillory took their story.

This book will make you hungry for pizza! I actually ordered pizza one day while I was reading it. I love how the author incorporates food in all her books. It is very relatable and I’m here for all the food talk.

I’ve enjoyed the two Jasmine Guillory books I’ve read so I’m looking forward to reading her other books. Her latest book, Party of two, just came out and I can’t wait to read it!

Content Warnings

Sex (it’s quite steamy), traumatic brain injury/concussion

Who I recommend this book to

This book is for the rom-com fans! If you have read Jasmine Guillory’s other books I think you’ll like this one.
