Summer Reading Guide Update!

Summer reading guide books

I hope you all are having a great reading summer! I wanted to do a little update of where I am with the books from my Summer Reading Guide that I hadn’t read when I published the reading guide earlier this Summer. Can you believe summer is almost over? There’s technically 40 days left!

My Thoughts on the ones I’ve read

When I first published my list I had read a lot of the books I included but I also included books that I was excited about to read this summer. I have read 4 of those so I’m sharing an update on those.

One to Watch

Rating – 4.5 Stars

My Thoughts – This book is the season of The Bachelorette we’d want. I LOVED it! However, even if you aren’t a fan of the show I think you would enjoy this book. This is a great book to read in the summer by the pool/beach. It’s easy to read and it is a story that you can get invested in quickly. I’m glad I included this in my Summer reading guide!

What you wish for

Rating – 3.5 Stars

My Thoughts – This is not my favorite Katherine Center book. Her books bring me joy, they usually cover heavier topics but give you some hope at the same time. I think she took the joy concept to the next level in this book but unfortunately it was too cheesy for me. The main themes of the book include healing, making your own joy and finding the best on each day. It’s a quick read and I’m still glad I read it.

The Wedding Party

Rating – 4 Stars

My Thoughts – I fell in love with the main characters Maddie and Theo! The banter is great and I loved seeing their relationship develop. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes and I really enjoyed were Jasmine Guillory took their story. This book will make you hungry for pizza! This is a great summer book. I’ve enjoyed the two Jasmine Guillory books I’ve read so I’m looking forward to reading her other books.

The Boyfriend Project

Rating – 4 Stars

My Thoughts – This is a great women’s fiction book with some suspense elements to it. This is a story of female friendship, strength, empowerment and love! I enjoyed the setting in the Austin Tech scene. The story addresses some important topics like sexism and inequality, specifically the struggles women in tech face. This book reminds me of Jasmine Guillory books. The friendship between the women is #squadgoals, I admire them all and would love to be their friend. You can’t help but root for all of them. This is a great summer book!

Books I still have to read

I’m hoping to get to as many of these as I can in the next 40 days. I am currently reading With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo and LOVING it! Seems like most of the books I haven’t gotten to are in the Books with a summer vibe category. I guess since I haven’t been to the beach recently I haven’t been in the mood for a “beachy” book.

  • With the Fire on High
  • Well-behaved Indian Women
  • Tiny Imperfections
  • The Second Home
  • Hello, Summer
  • East Coast girls
  • Winter in Paradise
  • Peachtree bluff series

I hope you find this Summer reading guide update helpful. I’d love to hear which books from my Summer Reading Guide you’ve read and loved. Let me know in the comments!

Summer is flying by! Love the update. I must read some Elizabeth Acevedo! Is the fire on high also in verse like the other one?
