One Italian Summer

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year, I love Rebecca Serle’s writing and I mean the cover art of this book is just gorgeous. The book is set in the Amalfi coast and it is very much a character of the book. You’ll be transported there and honestly it was my favorite part about this book. My husband and I will be visiting in two weeks so it was amazing to read about Positano and all the places they went to. I was taking notes of all the places and want to eat all the food

Between two kingdoms

Between Two Kingdoms by Suleika Jaouad

This was the first memoir I listened to this year and it made me remember how much I enjoyed listening to memoirs on audio. I love feeling like the author is personally telling me their story.I wish I knew how sad and heavy this book would be going into it. Every time I’d listen to it I would get in a very sad mood. I think Suleika is an amazing writer and the way she told her story was so beautiful.

Cover Story

Cover Story by Susan Rigetti

This book was all over Bookstagram this past month and I was getting FOMO so I picked it up. It is described as a debut novel about an ambitious young woman who gets caught up in a charismatic con artist’s scam. I usually am disappointed by books that are super hyped but this was an exception! It was very good and I am glad I read it. I couldn’t put it down!

Format – Physical Book (do not listen to the audiobook!)

Sparks Like Stars

Sparks Like Stars by Nadia Hashimi

This was my book club’s pick for this month. It is a historical fiction set partially in the 1970s in Afghanistan. Most of us really liked the book and agreed it was super sad. It was a good book for a group discussion. I really liked reading about Afghanistan in the 70s and enjoyed the dual timeline of this book. I think its a story I’ll think about for a while.

After I Do

After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid

You know Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my favorite authors. I still had a few of her backlist books that I hadn’t read so I picked this one up. I LOVED it and flew through it. It is a contemporary story about a couple who’s marriage reaches the breaking point and they decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love again. One year apart, and only one rule: they cannot contact each other. Aside from that, anything goes. As always Taylor’s writing was amazing and I was very invested in this story.
