What I read in June 2021. I am continuing with my strategy of not setting up a TBR and its helping me pick better books. I will continue to do this for the foreseeable future, June was a great reading month!

The Nine Lives of Rose Napolitano by Donna Freitas
I picked up this book while at a bookstore in Raleigh. I haven’t seen it around much but it caught my eye because it covers a similar topic as Olive by Emma Gannon. The authors have actually done events and articles together. I really liked this book but it was a little hard to keep track of the nine lives. I had to take notes on my phone to keep track of each and that took away from enjoying the book. Overall I really liked it!

Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
Another great thriller! This past month I was also obsessed with the tv show Cruel Summer (you have to watch it if you haven’t) and this book gave me Cruel Summer vibes. I couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook and I didn’t see the twist coming.

The Guncle by Steven Rowley
This is a great summer book and exactly what I needed when I read it. It was our book club pick for the month and we all loved it. This is a heartwarming book that covers the topics of grief, family and finding yourself. It honestly was what I was looking for when I read The House in the Cerulean Sea and it has been compared to that book for those that liked that one.

The Boys Club
I had this book on my TBR for a while and had heard amazing things so decided to pick it up. This book lived up to the hype for me. It follows a first year lawyer at a top law firm in NYC and its full of drama and bad decisions. It covers the topic of being a woman in a man’s world. There’s also an element of mystery and I enjoyed that.
Format – Audiobook/Physical Book (it is narrated by my favorite audiobook narrator Julia Whelan)

Overall, I had a great reading month. A lot of these books were part of my Summer Reading Guide. What was your favorite book you read in June? Let me know in the comments!
Yay June was definitely a great reading month – all 4 and 5 star reads! That’s awesome. I am loving Olive so much, so I’ll definitely be checking out The Nine Lives of Rose.
