- Favorite Book I read this month – I can’t pick just one, I’d have to say Furia, The Great Alone and Dear Martin.
Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez
This is a great Young Adult book! It is full of amazing characters, a great setting and the author is amazing. I got a chance to host an Instagram live this past month with Yamile and it was so much fun. I loved learning more about Rosario, Argentina and loved the main character Camila. This was Reese Witherspoon’s YA Book Club pick last month and I’m so glad it’s getting so much exposure because I hope more people read this book.

Don’t Look For Me by Wendy Walker
This is a great thriller! We listened to to the audiobook on a road trip earlier this month and we were entertained the entire way. Both Aaron and I loved it and couldn’t wait to find out how it ended. This is one of those books that I think the cover is perfect for the book. While I read the book I got the same vibe that the cover gives me. It is dark and atmospheric. One of the things I loved about the book was how creepy it was.

Rating – 4 Stars. Check out my review here.
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
I have been putting off writing this review because I can’t quite figure out how I feel about it. The premise was so interesting to me and the writing is beautiful. However, something was missing for me and I can’t quite figure out what it is. I think this may be one of those books that I just “didn’t get it” maybe it was too literary for me which happens sometimes.
Format – Audiobook
Rating – 3.5 Stars. Review coming soon!
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
I had been saving this book specifically for the fall and I’m so glad I did. This book was intimidating to me because of the size (over 500 pages!) but I think they were all necessary for the story. I alternated between the audiobook and the physical book and it helped get through it faster. This is a great strategy for getting through bigger books! I loved the setting of this book, I felt like I was in Alaska and I fell in love with the characters. This is a great historical fiction book!
Format – Physical (alternated with audiobook)
Rating – 5 Stars. Review coming soon!
Dear Martin by Nic Stone
This was my book club pick for October and it was a great book for a discussion! I think this is a a book that everyone should read. It is a great young adult book, I’m still loving the genre so much. The story is set in Atlanta which I really liked and it is a short book. I actually wished it was longer because I loved it so much.

Rating – 5 Stars. Review coming soon!
The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis
I love to read historical fiction in the Fall, it is a cozy and hearfelt genre. This book was included in my Fall/Winter Reading Guide and it was a GMA Book Club pick a few months ago. I loved the New York library setting and the alternating point of views.
Format – Audiobook
Rating – I am still trying to figure out how to rate this book. I am in between 3.5 and 4 stars. Review coming soon!
Bullet Journal
I thought I’d share how I track my reading in my bullet journal. At the begining of the month I set up these pages and filled them out throughout the month. I color in the books I read from my TBR on the left and on the right is the pages read (percentage for audiobooks) per day.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I read in October 2020. I’d love to know what your favorite books you read this month are. Let me know in the comments!
