March is my favorite month of the year! It is the start of spring, my birthday and now it will be the month we purchase our first home and next year the month we get married. Lots of things to look forward in March! There are also some amazing books coming out to the world. Here is a list of the books I’m excited about that come out this March.
Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson
Release date – March 3, 2020.
Genre – Thriller, Mystery
Synopsis – Years ago, bookseller and mystery aficionado Malcolm Kershaw compiled a list of the genre’s most unsolvable murders, those that are almost impossible to crack—which he titled “Eight Perfect Murders”—chosen from among the best of the best including Agatha Christie’s A. B. C. Murders, Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train, Ira Levin’s Death Trap, A. A. Milne’s Red House Mystery, Anthony Berkeley Cox’s Malice Aforethought, James M. Cain’s Double Indemnity, John D. Macdonald’s The Drowner, and Donna Tartt’s A Secret History.
But no one is more surprised than Mal, now the owner of the Old Devils Bookstore in Boston, when an FBI agent comes knocking on his door one snowy day in February. She’s looking for information about a series of unsolved murders that look eerily similar to the killings on Mal’s old list. To protect himself, Mal begins looking into possible suspects . . . and sees a killer in everyone around him.
Why I’m excited about it – I was lucky to receive an advance readers copy of this book. I read it and I loved it! It is one of my all time favorite thrillers. I loved the writing, I’d describe this as “unputdownable”. I couldn’t wait to find out how it ended. There are plenty of twists and a shocking ending. If you are into thrillers I definitely recommend picking this one up! Get it from Amazon here.
Anna K: A love story by Jenny Lee
Release date – March 3, 2020.
Genre – Contemporary fiction
Synopsis – At seventeen, Anna K is at the top of Manhattan and Greenwich society (even if she prefers the company of her horses and dogs); she has the perfect (if perfectly boring) boyfriend, Alexander W.; and she has always made her Korean-American father proud (even if he can be a little controlling). Meanwhile, Anna’s brother, Steven, and his girlfriend, Lolly, are trying to weather an sexting scandal; Lolly’s little sister, Kimmie, is struggling to recalibrate to normal life after an injury derails her ice dancing career; and Steven’s best friend, Dustin, is madly (and one-sidedly) in love with Kimmie.
As her friends struggle with the pitfalls of ordinary teenage life, Anna always seems to be able to sail gracefully above it all. That is…until the night she meets Alexia “Count” Vronsky at Grand Central. A notorious playboy who has bounced around boarding schools and who lives for his own pleasure, Alexia is everything Anna is not. But he has never been in love until he meets Anna, and maybe she hasn’t, either. As Alexia and Anna are pulled irresistibly together, she has to decide how much of her life she is willing to let go for the chance to be with him. And when a shocking revelation threatens to shatter their relationship, she is forced to question if she has ever known herself at all.
Dazzlingly opulent and emotionally riveting, Anna K: A Love Story is a brilliant reimagining of Leo Tolstoy’s timeless love story, Anna Karenina―but above all, it is a novel about the dizzying, glorious, heart-stopping experience of first love and first heartbreak.
Why I’m excited about it – This book has been described as a darker dirtier version of Gossip Girl and I’m here for it! I haven’t read Anna Karenina but I’m looking forward to this contemporary young adult novel. Get it from Amazon here.
My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell
Release date – March 10, 2020
Genre – Contemporary Fiction, Thriller
Synopsis – 2000. Bright, ambitious, and yearning for adulthood, fifteen-year-old Vanessa Wye becomes entangled in an affair with Jacob Strane, her magnetic and guileful forty-two-year-old English teacher.
2017. Amid the rising wave of allegations against powerful men, a reckoning is coming due. Strane has been accused of sexual abuse by a former student, who reaches out to Vanessa, and now Vanessa suddenly finds herself facing an impossible choice: remain silent, firm in the belief that her teenage self willingly engaged in this relationship, or redefine herself and the events of her past. But how can Vanessa reject her first love, the man who fundamentally transformed her and has been a persistent presence in her life? Is it possible that the man she loved as a teenager—and who professed to worship only her—may be far different from what she has always believed?
Alternating between Vanessa’s present and her past, My Dark Vanessa juxtaposes memory and trauma with the breathless excitement of a teenage girl discovering the power her own body can wield
Why I’m excited about it – The main reason why I am excited about this one is because it has been recommended by people that have read it and said it was heavy but powerful. I am looking forward to reading it and hopefully reading something lighter afterwards. Get it from Amazon here.
In Five years by Rebecca Serle
Release date – March 10, 2020
Genre – Contemporary Fiction, Romance
Synopsis – Where do you see yourself in five years? When Type-A Manhattan lawyer Dannie Cohan is asked this question at the most important interview of her career, she has a meticulously crafted answer at the ready. Later, after nailing her interview and accepting her boyfriend’s marriage proposal, Dannie goes to sleep knowing she is right on track to achieve her five-year plan.
But when she wakes up, she’s suddenly in a different apartment, with a different ring on her finger, and beside a very different man. The television news is on in the background, and she can just make out the scrolling date. It’s the same night—December 15—but 2025, five years in the future.
After a very intense, shocking hour, Dannie wakes again, at the brink of midnight, back in 2020. She can’t shake what has happened. It certainly felt much more than merely a dream, but she isn’t the kind of person who believes in visions. That nonsense is only charming coming from free-spirited types, like her lifelong best friend, Bella. Determined to ignore the odd experience, she files it away in the back of her mind. That is, until four-and-a-half years later, when by chance Dannie meets the very same man from her long-ago vision.
Brimming with joy and heartbreak, In Five Years is an unforgettable love story that reminds us of the power of loyalty, friendship, and the unpredictable nature of destiny.
Why I’m excited about it – I was lucky to get an advance readers copy of this book and I was so excited to read it because I loved the author’s first book The Dinner List. I read this book in ONE DAY! It is so easy to read and you get invested in the characters right away. I would say its not your typical love story so if you decide to read it go with no expectations. The cover of this book is gorgeous and I can’t wait for it to be out in the world! Get it from Amazon here.

The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren
Release date – March 10, 2020
Genre – Romance, Women’s Fiction
Synopsis – Carey Douglas has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.
James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus. Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…
Why I’m excited about it – A few things that attract me to this book 1) The cover is super cute (yes, I judge books by its cover!), 2) it sounds like a super cute romantic comedy, and 3) I’ve read other Christina Lauren books and they are delightful. Their (fun fact Christina Lauren its two people!) books are fun and typically a quick read. Get it from Amazon here.
I hope this list helps you find your next read and gets you excited for some upcoming March releases!
